Program Overview
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) is a six-year professional doctoral programme approved by the Government of India and regulated by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The programme comprises five years of academic study followed by one year of compulsory internship in a hospital setting, with a strong emphasis on clinical pharmacy and patient-centered care. Pharm.D equips students with advanced knowledge and skills to function as integral members of the healthcare team, focusing on rational drug therapy, medication safety, and improved patient outcomes. The programme also addresses critical healthcare needs in India such as irrational drug use, medication errors, and non-compliance in chronic diseases.
Course Outcomes:
On completion of the Pharm.D programme, graduates will be able to apply clinical and therapeutic knowledge in patient care, promote rational and safe use of medicines, identify and resolve drug-related problems, understand ethical and legal aspects of pharmacy practice, and effectively collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals. They will also develop strong communication, clinical decision-making, and professional skills required for hospital and community pharmacy practice.
