Pharmacy is a common job-oriented undergraduate degree programme among scientific students following high school. It is a four-year programme with eight semesters (each semester lasts six months).

This programme is about medicine manufacturing, quality control, and research and development. The programme is career-oriented and provides good prospects in the pharmaceutical sector.

Eligibilty for Admission

Except for the SC/ST community, all candidates must have a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in HSc scientific courses (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, or Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, or Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology). Under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act, holders of a Diploma in Pharmacy (from a PCI recognised college) are qualified to undertake this course. The Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi, will establish the program’s curriculum and syllabi.

Each semester must include at least 100 working days. Every calendar year, the odd semesters will run from June/July to November/December, while the even semesters will run from December/January to May/June.

Career prospects

After completing the GPAT, individuals can pursue higher education such as an M.Pharm degree to improve their abilities and expertise with a monthly stipend. After passing the GRE, TOEFL, and IELTS admission exams, they can study MS (Pharm), MBA, and other pharmacy-related courses in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, among other places.

Pharm.D Post Baccalaureate (PB) three-year programme for B.Pharm graduates. A B.Pharm candidate may work as a medical scientific writer, an industry chemist, a Formulation Development (F&D) Associate, a drug inspector/analyst, a marketing professional, or in the wholesale or retail distribution of medications. They can also teach at a D. Pharm institution.
